For centuries, the Itoozhi Illam has stood as one of the foremost Ayurvedic families of Malabar, preserving and practicing the sacred science of Ayurveda with devotion and authenticity.

A Legacy Rooted in Tradition
The Itoozhi Illam has been an Ayurvedic treatment centre from time immemorial. The Itoozhi Namboothiri family is considered to be one of the authentic ‘Vaidya Kudumbam’ in Ayurvedic system of medicine in Kerala since the last few centuries. Legend has it that Itoozhi Namboothiris were one among the official Physicians of Perinjalloor Gramam founded by the sage Parasurama.
Many legendary physicians from the ancient generations, their clinical practices and their special treatment approaches have been appreciated by the common people and the Ayurvedic community which have been recorded in the pages of Malabar history. The Eight Vaidyas who lived in Itoozhi Illam at a time in the beginning of 18th century had their own unique specialized branches of Ayrveda.
